Air Freight
General Information
Air Freight is a very demanding and competitive industry. IGS offers full service; pick-up goods from the shipper's door and delivers the same to consignee’s door at destination. IGS provides the key elements of airfreight: speed, safety, reliability, and competitive rates. Goods of higher value and sensitive to delivery schedules are now shipped by air with IGS.
IGS has the expertise and vast experience to move substantial tonnage of cargo as may be required, including over-weight and over sized plant, machinery and equipment, particularly for projects, on a door to door bases. Computation of Air Freight Charges
Airfreight charges shall be calculated by multiplying the rate by The Chargeable Weight. The Chargeable Weight is the actual gross weight or the dimensional volumetric weight of the shipment, which ever is higher, provided that where a lower charge for a higher minimum weight applies, the latter shall be retained as chargeable weight.
The computation of charges shall be made on a "Per Kilo" basis except for export shipments from the USA the calculation of the charges may be made on either a Per Kilo or a Per Pound basis. Fractions of a kilo or pound are rounded up to the next higher full kilogram or full pound.
To determine the correct freight charges, we need to know the actual gross weight of the shipment and the dimensions Length, Width and Height of each package/box/carton.
To calculate the volume weight of a shipment, take the greatest Length x greatest Width x greatest Height times the total number of packages then divide by 6000 Or 366 or 166 as applicable. NOTES:
-
To convert Centimeters to kilograms divide by 6000. The dimensions of a shipment being 173.3 x 135.4 x 156.8 cms are rounded up to 173 x 135 x 157 = 3,666,735 cubic centimeters which divided by 6000, results in, 611.12 kgs rounded up to 612 kgs.
-
To convert Inches to kilograms divide by 366. The dimensions of a shipment being 63 7/8 x 62 1/4 x 56 3/8 inches are rounded to 64 x 62 x 56 = 210,304 cubic inches which divided by 366, results in, 574.60 kgs rounded up to 575 kgs.
-
To convert Inches to Pounds divide by 166. The dimensions of a shipment being 74 x 51 x 57 inches = 215,118 cubic inches which divided by 166, results in, 1295.89 Ibs rounded up to 1296 Ibs.
- One kilogram = 2.2046 pounds.
One meter = 100 centimeters.
One Cubic Meter =35.31 Cubic Feet
One Cubic Feet = 1728 Cubic Inches
One Cubic Meter =168 kgs volume weight
One Cubic Meter = 368 Ibs volume weight

Airfreight shipments are effected on carriers with various types of aircrafts. The dimensions of the aircraft cargo door may impose limitations. Hence to avoid any inconvenience please furnish us the dimensions and gross weight of the package/crate to check the feasibility.
Ocean Freight
General Information
Majority of the commercial goods are shipped in 20 or 40 feet containers respectively. Goods are shipped on FCL (Full Container Load) or LCL (Less Container Load) basis. IGS provides different carriers to meet its customer’s needs: such as transit time, frequency and competitive rates. In order to reduce transportation cost, IGS also offers consolidation service to customers purchasing a variety of goods from multiple suppliers.
IGS has the expertise and vast experience to move substantial tonnage of cargo as may be required, including over-weight and over sized plant, machinery and equipment, particularly for projects, on a door to door basis on Charter or Liner Terms.
Computation of LCL Rates
Ocean LCL Rates are charged per Weight or Measurements of the shipment, whichever yields greater revenue to the carrier.
W = Weight = 1000 kilos = 2204.6 pounds
M = Measurement = 1 cubic meter = 35.31 cubic feet
To calculate the correct Ocean Freight LCL charges, we need to know the actual gross Weight of the shipment in kilos or pounds and the Measurements of each box or package; Length, Width and Height in inches or centimeters.
To calculate the Measurements of a shipment, take the greatest Length x greatest Width x greatest Height in inches times the total number of packages then divide by 1728 then times by 0.02832 will result in cubic meters.
One kilogram = 2.2046 pounds
One meter = 100 centimeters
One Cubic Meter = 35.31 Cubic Feet
One Cubic Foot = 1728 Cubic Inches

Insurance
Our open policy with ROANOKE International Insurance Brokers allows us to provide the insurance coverage that you require at very favorable rates. IGS PLACE insurance with the insurance company, meaning that we (ourselves) do not insure your freight (ROANOKE International Insurance Brokers) does. The money does not come from our account should you have claim. The insurance company will either want proof of a lost shipment, or send an adjuster in to view the damage. They will then place blame with whoever lost or damaged the freight, and the insurance company will pay you the claim amount. The insurance company then subrogates against the company(s) that caused the loss/damage. A.T.A. Carnet
What is an ATA Carnet?
The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. The initials "ATA" are an acronym of the French and English words "Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission."
